The Reason We’re Here!

kids

A picture is worth a thousand words! This photo nicely illustrates one of the reasons we desperately need pubic libraries!  Librarians offer children a gateway to reading, learning, and personal growth that may last a lifetime!  These happy, excited kids clearly have discovered the joy of browsing through the world of books in their local library.   May they never lose that feeling! May there always be a public library!

Kristen Quon for S.B.R.L.!

picture

Kristen Quon has become a well-known, popular, and influential figure in the area due to her work in two different careers and her dedication to community service. She was kind enough to share her support for our local library and we appreciate her kindness.

Kristen is the Public Information Officer for the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in Blountville, Tennessee. The Public Information Officer serves as the department’s official liaison to the media and the general public. Kristen moved to the area from Savannah, Georgia. She studied multi-media journalism at Milligan College and proceeded to work for WCYB-TV as a reporter and producer. Passionate about telling stories and meeting new people, Kristen covered thousands of stories all over the region and soon became passionate about crime and police work. After years of crime reporting she was approached by Sheirff Wayne Anderson to become their PIO. She has been working for the department since 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys going on walks with her rescue dog and attending live sporting events and country concerts.

She does not have a favorite book, but reads a new book almost every week! She enjoys reading all of the fiction books on the NY Times Bestsellers list. Some of her favorite books include Redeeming Love, A Thousand Splendid Suns, To Kill A Mockingbird, and all of the Harry Potter and Lord Of the Rings series.
