Some libraries use a machine called the Depulvera to clean their newly returned books. The “mini car wash” machine does not use water but it can clean 12 books per minute. We don’t have a machine like that here. If a book or DVD is returned in a sticky or dirty condition we clean it by hand. We don’t need a fancy machine or a robot… although we’ll gladly accept a robot if anyone wants to provide one. My point is we do offer new technologies and ever-evolving services for our patrons but we also continue to offer reliable public services provided by experienced and trained professionals! You may quickly ask just how much training does it take to clean a book; however, the service does take time and is merely one way we strive to make things better for out patrons. Disclaimer: Book-loving robots are welcome here like any other eager patron!

Are you looking forward to the release of the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie in May? You may just want to learn a bit more about the characters before you see the film. In either case, we have some items that may help you get up to (light) speed on the film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volumes 1-5 by Brian M. Bendis are all owned by our Chilhowie branch.
The Marion Library owns an X-Men/Guardians crossover book called Guardians of the Galaxy: The Trial of Jean Grey.
We also own Skottie Young’s “Rocket Raccoon and Groot.”
If you’d like to learn more about Gamora, she appears in The Infinity Gauntlet and The Infinity War both by Ron Marz.
We also own the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” film on DVD.
Finally, if you want to listen to the first movie’s soundtrack CD, we have it here. Check these items out and you’ll be a Guardians expert, quicker than you can say, “I am Groot!”
